Bard's emphasis on mood is apparent in all her work, regardless of scale, and she creates a compelling vision, one that is emotionally stirring without the burden of sentimentality. Gayle Bard moved to Seattle from the Midwest in 1978. Her education has included the Cornish Institute, University of Wisconsin, Yale School of Art, University of Chicago and DePauw University. She has been on the faculty at the Cornish College of the Arts, the Nevada State Council on the Arts and the Washington State Arts Commission.
